Description of Campus Facilities:
LIBRARY: The James Branch Cabell Library on the Monroe Park Campus and the Tompkins-McCaw Library on the MCV Campus offer a print collection of two million volumes and 50,000 serial titles, along with an extensive collection of digital indexes, full-text digital periodicals, and other digital materials, to support the academic work of the VCU community. Both libraries provide leading-edge Web-based services as well as exceptional instruction and individual reference consultation to help VCU research, teaching, and learning. With over 350 workstations within the two library facilities and powerful network-integrated systems, the VCU Libraries’ collections and resources are available from any computer on the VCU campus and, with your EID, from anyplace in the world with an Internet connection.
There is a Starbucks coffeeshop conveniently located inside the Cabell library.
Library Hours are: Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 10pm; Friday 7:30am – 6:00pm; Saturday 10:00am – 6:00pm; and Sunday 1:00pm – 10:00pm.
GYMNASIUM: IYLEP participants will have free access to the Cary Street Gym (http://www.recsports.vcu.edu/facilities/cary_st_complex.html), which features:
2 heated indoor pools: activity pool and leisure pool
Rock climbing wall with bouldering/caving wall, belaying classes
18,000 sq foot fitness center with cardio, selectorized and free weight equipment
Over 185 pieces of fitness equipment
7 weight circuits
4 court gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, table tennis and badminton
Multi Activity Center (MAC) with indoor turf for soccer, dodgeball, and more
Indoor running track: 9.5 laps/mile interior lane, 8.4 laps exterior lane
